Bank of England Chief Economist Haldane has reiterated what Governor Bailey has recently said by suggesting a quick economic recovery is expected in the UK. Nonetheless, the Pound has failed to recover its recent losses as tensions remain high between the UK and EU over the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The Euro remains fairly soft as coronavirus cases across the EU are still a concern as well as the slow vaccine rollout on the continent. However, better than expected Eurozone flash manufacturing and services PMI figures released yesterday morning helped limit losses for the time being.
The Dollar remains strong across the board. US final GDP and unemployment claims data will be released at 12:30pm which may cause some short-term volatility, whilst comments from several FOMC members will be closely watched in the latter part of the day.
