The unrest and riots in Northern Ireland have kept any Sterling gains at bay for the time being. Brexit Minister Frost will hold talks with European Commission Vice-President Sefcovic in order to attempt to find a solution over trading arrangements for Northern Ireland.
Euro (€) The EU announced that it would receive 50 million Pfizer vaccines in the second quarter which is earlier than expected. However, the Euro is currently being held back by heated discussions within the CDU/CSU parliamentary faction over who should stand as Chancellor candidate at the next election.
US Dollar ($) FOMC member Williams believes that the vaccine rollout in the US as well as strong business activity will help reduce the long-term economic effects of the pandemic. The market will pay close attention to US retail sales data and unemployment claims that will be released at 1:30pm before deciding which way the Dollar will go.
