Trade talks between the UK and EU are still ongoing with a deal expected to be announced today. A phone call between Prime Minister Johnson and European Commission President von der Leyen will take place once both parties finalise details on fishing quotas, with a press conference due after. As a result, the Pound has strengthened across the board.
There has been little economic data released from Europe yesterday, with no major announcements due today as well. The Euro remains strong against a weaker Dollar but has lost ground against the Pound due to Brexit optimism.
US unemployment claims came out better than expected yesterday at 803K compared to 882K that was forecast, which is a three-week low. The Dollar remains weak with a lack of demand for its safe-haven status.
